Project Overview

The AIS Veracross Training Program was created as an asynchronous, mobile-friendly course in Articulate Rise. It was developed to help teachers at Atlanta International School (AIS) prepare for in-person, hands-on training during faculty orientation. The training introduced the fundamental features of the Veracross Student Information System (SIS) to ensure teachers were equipped to navigate and utilize the system effectively. The course content focused on essential topics such as the Faculty Portal, class websites, attendance tracking, grade reporting, grade comment input, and behavior reporting.

Project Goals and Learning Outcomes

The primary goal was to enable AIS teachers to familiarize themselves with Veracross features and develop confidence before the hands-on workshop. Upon completing the course, teachers were able to:

  • Navigate the Faculty Portal to access their classes and rosters.

  • Use class pages effectively for daily tasks.

  • Record attendance and report grades, comments, and behavior accurately.
This prepared teachers to participate actively in the in-person training session during orientation week.

Instructional Strategy and Gap Resolution

To close the knowledge gap, the course presented information in a step-by-step format that mirrored the natural workflow teachers followed when using Veracross. Instead of relying on memorization, the focus was on building familiarity and practical understanding. The course included instructional videos from Veracross University, quick-reference tutorials, and interactive knowledge checks to reinforce comprehension. By organizing the content logically and making it easy to navigate, the training allowed teachers to learn at their own pace and revisit the material as needed.

Learner-Focused Design

The course was developed to meet the needs of a diverse group of teachers with varying levels of technology expertise. About 80% of the faculty were returning teachers, and 20% were new to the school. The training provided on-demand access and mobile-friendly navigation to ensure ease of use. The content structure helped teachers locate the information they needed, whether they were seeking a refresher or a step-by-step guide for completing a task. The training was intentionally designed to be a useful and accessible resource that supported teachers in confidently navigating Veracross.
